Best Raspberry Pi Boards in Malaysia: Pi 5 vs Pi 4 4GB vs Zero 2 W (2026)

Three Raspberry Pi boards solve different jobs, so the cheapest number on a product page is not automatically the best buy. This comparison uses Cytron Malaysia listings checked on 27 September 2026 and Raspberry Pi’s published specifications. We have not benchmarked these boards ourselves: the recommendation is based on documented hardware, page-level offers and the accessories each board needs.

Raspberry Pi 5 — best overall for a new performance-led build

The Pi 5’s 2.4GHz Cortex-A76 and VideoCore VII make it the clear performance pick of these three. Its two USB 3 ports, PCIe Gen 2 connection and dedicated fan header create useful room for an NVMe project, fast storage or a camera/display setup. The extra capability is meaningful for a small Linux workstation, local server with several services, computer-vision prototype or build that will grow.

There is a real system-cost trade-off: Cytron recommends a 5V/5A USB-C PD supply for full performance, and its page calls for active thermal management. Older Pi 4 cases do not generally fit because the port and connector layout changed. So the attractive low end of the listing range is not a complete-project budget; select RAM, power, cooling, storage and case first. Buy it if those performance needs are real. Skip it for a simple sensor node or GPIO task that a smaller board can handle.

Pros

  • Strongest CPU and expansion path in this comparison.
  • Dedicated fan connector and PCIe Gen 2 broaden project options.

Cons & drawbacks

  • Power, cooling and case compatibility add cost and setup work.
  • The listing range spans RAM and bundle choices, not one Pi 5 configuration.

Buy if: you need the newer CPU, fast storage path or extra I/O. Avoid if: the workload is light and you already own a working Pi 4.

Raspberry Pi 4 Model B 4GB — best value for a clearly priced board page

The 4GB Pi 4 remains a balanced general-purpose board: its quad-core Cortex-A72, dual micro-HDMI outputs, Gigabit Ethernet and USB 3 make it useful for a home service, media centre, desktop experiment or HAT-based controller. The current Cytron page named for the 4GB model displays RM446.70 and availability 74; the page also offers kit choices. Treat that as the displayed listing evidence, not a promise that every selected bundle totals the same amount.

At that figure it is not automatically cheaper than every Pi 5 configuration—the product pages cover different memory and bundle combinations. Its value is predictability: choose the specified 4GB board when its ports and compute meet the brief, and do not pay extra for Pi 5 features you will not use. Cytron states a 12-month warranty on this product page. Buyers should still check the chosen board/kit, seller, warranty route and final cart amount before paying.

Pros

  • 4GB memory and Gigabit Ethernet suit many established maker and home-server jobs.
  • Dual micro-HDMI supports a two-display setup.

Cons & drawbacks

  • Less CPU headroom and no Pi 5 PCIe/fan-header combination.
  • Page price can change with bundle selection, vouchers and shipping.

Buy if: you want a named 4GB configuration for a mature software/project ecosystem. Avoid if: a new build specifically needs Pi 5 performance or the 4GB board’s verified checkout total exceeds your budget.

Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W — best situational pick for a compact node

The Zero 2 W puts a 1GHz quad-core 64-bit Cortex-A53 and 512MB LPDDR2 into a 65 × 30mm board. It adds 2.4GHz 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2/BLE, mini-HDMI, a camera connector and a 40-pin GPIO footprint. That makes it a sensible fit for a small network appliance, sensor, camera controller or embedded build where board area and power matter more than desktop responsiveness.

Do not read the RM74.90–RM218.35 range as a confirmed Zero 2 W price: Cytron’s live page groups Zero W, WH, Zero 2 W variants and several kits, and shows availability 10 for that mixed listing. Choose the exact “Zero 2 W” and header/kit option and confirm the checkout line before comparing costs. The narrow board saves space, but 512MB, one micro-USB data port and mini-HDMI mean extra adapters and a lighter software workload. Cytron’s page states 12 months’ warranty; confirm it applies to the chosen item and retain the local invoice.

Pros

  • Small footprint with wireless, GPIO and camera/display connections onboard.
  • Zero 2 W has four 64-bit CPU cores rather than the older Zero W’s single-core design.

Cons & drawbacks

  • 512MB RAM limits browser, desktop and multi-service workloads.
  • The listing mixes models and kits; the shown minimum is not a verified Zero 2 W price.

Buy if: your project is compact, headless or sensor-focused. Avoid if: you need a daily desktop, several memory-heavy containers or an easy full-size port selection.

Our verdict and Malaysia buying notes

For a fresh build where capability matters, choose Raspberry Pi 5: it offers the best overall headroom, provided you budget for power and cooling. For a named 4GB board with a visible RM446.70 listing, Pi 4 Model B is the value choice when its older platform is enough. Choose Zero 2 W only for the compact, low-power use case—not as a cheap desktop substitute.

These are listing-level snapshots dated 27 September 2026, not locked checkout quotes. Pi 5’s RM202–RM1,786.40 spans RAM and kit variants; Pi 4’s page price sits alongside selectable bundles; the Zero page combines multiple models and kits. Vouchers, delivery to Sabah/Sarawak, plug type and included accessories can move the total. Confirm exact model, RAM, case, PSU, header status, seller and warranty terms in cart. Cytron’s Pi 4 and Zero pages state 12-month warranty; verify the specific chosen package.
