Portable PA Speakers Malaysia: JBL Compact vs IRX ONE vs EON ONE MK2

A portable PA is not just a louder Bluetooth speaker. For Malaysian workshops, acoustic performances and small events, the important questions are whether a microphone and instrument can share the system, whether electricity is available, and how much equipment you can actually carry. These three JBL systems solve those problems differently: EON ONE Compact is the small battery-powered box, IRX ONE is the straightforward mains-powered column, and EON ONE MK2 adds a larger battery column with more mixing control.

Our overall recommendation is JBL EON ONE MK2 for performers needing several inputs and either AC or battery operation. The value choice is JBL EON ONE Compact for a solo presenter or singer with a lighter load. JBL IRX ONE earns the situational recommendation for a room with reliable electricity where a simple column setup matters more than battery freedom. This is a source-based buying comparison, not a listening test; we have not measured loudness, battery endurance or venue coverage.

Compare the job, not the headline watts

Prices below are single-system Malaysian offers checked at Music Bliss on 6 October 2026. The selected variants were available to order at that check. This does not reserve stock or promise delivery to a particular Sarawak postcode. Pair packages, microphones, stands, batteries and promotional extras must be checked separately.

Exact product Checked price Power source Mixing inputs Acoustic layout Carry consideration Best buying reason
JBL EON ONE Compact RM2,599, speaker-only Rechargeable battery / AC; up to 12 hours claimed 4-channel mixer; 2 combo mic inputs, Hi-Z and aux 8-inch woofer; compact cabinet 8 kg; vertical or monitor orientation Light solo setup without a mains socket
JBL IRX ONE RM3,699, one system AC mains; no built-in battery established 3-channel mixer; 2 combo inputs plus line input 8-inch woofer and six 2-inch column drivers Column sections pack into base; mass not verified here Simple column PA for powered venues
JBL EON ONE MK2 RM4,799, UNIT variant Rechargeable battery / AC; up to 6 hours claimed 5-channel digital mixer; 3 combo inputs, Hi-Z and aux/Bluetooth 10-inch woofer and eight 2-inch column drivers 19.3 kg; plan load-in rather than trusting “one-hand” copy More input flexibility and detailed DSP

Manufacturer battery figures are upper-limit claims, not our measured runtime. Volume, programme material and charging external devices can affect a working session. Likewise, peak wattage is not a useful shortcut to audience size. Placement, background noise, room acoustics and the type of performance remain important.

JBL EON ONE Compact: the value pick for carrying less

The JBL EON ONE Compact makes the strongest case when getting from the car to the activity is itself part of the purchase decision. Its verified 8 kg weight is considerably below MK2’s 19.3 kg, and the enclosure can stand vertically or lie as a monitor. A built-in pole mount gives another positioning option, but the selected RM2,599 offer is speaker-only; do not assume that a stand or microphone is included because the retailer URL mentions a bundle.

Its four-channel mixer accepts two XLR/TRS microphone or line connections, a quarter-inch Hi-Z instrument and a 3.5 mm auxiliary source. That fits a singer with a guitar or a presenter using background music without immediately adding a separate mixer. The manufacturer lists phantom power, a headphone output, effects and app-based control. The headphone connection is particularly useful for private practice and checking presets; it is not evidence that the room mix has been tested.

Pros

  • Lowest verified purchase price and lightest verified weight in this comparison.
  • Battery power and a tool-free replaceable battery support locations without convenient sockets.
  • Two mic inputs plus an instrument connection cover a compact solo performance.

Cons and who should avoid it

There are only two microphone preamps, so a panel with three wired microphones needs additional routing rather than an assumed third mic channel. The compact cabinet is also a different deployment from an elevated column. Buy it for light solo work and speech, not simply because a seller uses a large bass claim. Avoid it if your requirement is multiple microphones and a column-format system in one box.

JBL IRX ONE: choose a column when mains power is certain

The JBL IRX ONE costs RM1,100 more than Compact at the checked offer, yet it does not buy battery operation. It buys a different sound-system layout: an 8-inch bass-reflex woofer with a C-shaped array of six 2-inch high-frequency drivers. The column spacers and array store in the base, reducing the number of loose pieces you must manage between recurring talks or classes. That is a tangible organisational advantage, rather than a guarantee of clearer sound in every hall.

The three-channel mixer is deliberately simpler than MK2’s digital setup. Two combo sockets, a line input, 48V phantom power, automatic feedback suppression, five EQ presets and audio ducking provide useful tools for speech with playback. Ducking lowers background music when speech is detected; it does not solve poor microphone placement. Bluetooth 5.0 is for convenient streaming, not a substitute for a wired microphone input or proof of zero-latency instrument monitoring.

Advantages

  • Column format and base storage suit repeated setup in a powered room.
  • Preset-based control is easier to explain to occasional operators than a detailed digital effects workflow.
  • Feedback suppression and ducking are practical presentation features.

Drawbacks and buyer fit

Reliable mains electricity is essential: we found no established built-in battery for this model. Three mixer channels also do not mean three mic preamps. Choose IRX ONE for a training room, community space or venue with a known socket and a simple input plan. Skip it for genuinely off-grid busking, or where three microphones plus an instrument are needed without an external mixer.

JBL EON ONE MK2: best overall when the extra controls are useful

JBL EON ONE MK2 assembled eight-driver column and woofer base
The assembled MK2 image shows its tall eight-driver array above the larger base. Manufacturer credit: JBL Professional / HARMAN. Official manufacturer catalogue; owner-authorized editorial use. The JBL EON ONE MK2’s RM4,799 UNIT price is RM1,100 above IRX ONE and RM2,200 above Compact. The useful upgrades are specific: a 10-inch woofer, eight 2-inch column tweeters, a five-channel digital mixer and battery operation. Three combo inputs alongside a Hi-Z instrument input and aux/Bluetooth routing give a small performance more flexibility before a separate desk becomes necessary. Plan the actual channel assignments; aux and Bluetooth are not unlimited independent extra channels.

JBL specifies Lexicon effects, an eight-band EQ, dbx automatic feedback suppression and remote control through Pro Connect. These are reasons to consider MK2 for a performer who wants repeatable vocal effects and more detailed adjustment. They are also settings an occasional operator has to learn. Its 19.3 kg weight should influence stairs, car loading and solo transport, even though the manufacturer describes one-hand carrying.

Power mode changes the specification: JBL lists maximum output of 123 dB on AC and 119 dB on battery, with up to six hours of battery operation. Those are manufacturer ratings, not our venue measurements. Battery freedom therefore does not mean identical output or endurance at every setting. A long event still needs a charging or spare-battery plan, and extra batteries or a dual charger must not be assumed to come with the standard unit.

Pros

  • Most flexible built-in input arrangement among these three exact models.
  • Combines column deployment with battery or mains operation.
  • Detailed EQ and effects suit performers who will actually use them.

Cons and reasons not to upgrade

The higher price and 19.3 kg load are hard to justify for a single speech microphone used close to the audience. Do not pay for MK2 merely for its 1,500W peak label. Buy it for the extra input plan, column format and DSP; avoid it when a light Compact meets the job or when your event is large enough to require a separately planned PA system.

Malaysia warranty, delivery and the final decision

Music Bliss’s product FAQs say that a majority of products have at least one year of electronic-parts warranty. That is not a model-specific promise for all three systems or their batteries. JBL’s global IRX ONE page mentions a three-year warranty, but local eligibility, distributor handling and coverage were not independently established here. Before paying, obtain the Malaysian warranty duration, battery exclusions, service contact and invoice terms for the exact stock being supplied.

The dealer gives a general delivery estimate of three to seven working days; do not use it as a confirmed Sarawak arrival date. Check your postcode, shipping cost, physical parcel handling and returns for an opened system. Compare the speaker-only or UNIT variant with the same package elsewhere, rather than confusing a two-system price, microphone upgrade or stand promotion with a cheaper identical offer. Any voucher is an unverified checkout saving, not part of our reference prices.

Choose Compact if carrying less and operating without a socket dominate your decision. Choose IRX ONE if a simple column in a mains-powered room is the actual need. Choose MK2 if several sources, vocal effects and battery-column flexibility justify both the cost and lifting burden. For the broadest small-performance brief, MK2 is our overall pick; for a solo presenter, Compact is the smarter value purchase. Arrange a listening demonstration with your own microphone and instrument before committing to a specific room size.
